Queer Frontiers: Steve Reinke
LOMAA is excited to welcome Steve Reinke for the sixth event in our Queer Frontiers series! Reinke will be presenting a week-long online screening of The Genital is Superfluous: Final Thoughts, Series Four and he will present a new work, Father, Limping Through a Field of Clover, during his virtual artist talk! This event is presented in partnership with Pleasure Dome.

Steve Reinke is an artist and writer who was born in the Ottawa Valley (Eganville) in 1963 and educated at York University and NSCAD. A queer Nietzschean, Reinke is best known for monologue-based video essays. He lives in Chicago and teaches at Northwestern University. LOMAA’s Queer Frontiers critically reflects on Canada’s 50th anniversary celebration of the purported “decriminalization” of homosexuality in the country. Serving as a counter to the state revelries, LOMAA will host eight artists, artist duos, or curators who have established practices post-legislation and remain on the frontiers of Canadian queer media. This project centres queer narratives and praxis as a means to interrogate historical representation and continue fortifying queer futures within this country.
